ReelCaption Studio is a fully local, on-device Mac application. Your privacy is protected by design: the app does not have network access and does not collect, transmit, or share any data.
Nothing. ReelCaption Studio collects no personal data, no usage analytics, and no telemetry. There is no account and no sign-in.
On-device transcription uses Apple's Speech framework. Language model assets are downloaded and managed by macOS itself (not by ReelCaption Studio) and run on-device. ReelCaption Studio does not send your audio to any server.
Screen recording consent is managed by macOS and ScreenCaptureKit. Microphone and camera permission are requested only after you enable the corresponding option and explicitly start a recording. Interactive samples use synthetic sources and never request screen, camera, or microphone permission.
One-time in-app purchases are handled entirely by Apple's App Store and StoreKit. ReelCaption Studio never sees your payment details. Purchase entitlements are provided to the app by the operating system.
The app keeps a small local, rotating diagnostics log inside its own container for troubleshooting. It records only event names and non-identifying counters - never transcript text, caption text, file contents, or file paths. This log never leaves your Mac and is not transmitted anywhere.
You can delete all app data at any time from Settings ("Delete all data"), which clears the local project library, recorder recipes, and app-owned takes. Your original video files and exports on disk are not affected. Deleting the app removes its container entirely.
ReelCaption Studio does not collect data from anyone, including children.
If this policy changes, the updated version will ship with the app and the date above will be revised.
