What Cordwork brings together

You are the night operator in Ashfen, Kansas, 1962. Eleven lines run through your board, every call in town passes through your hands, and every voice on them assumes you are not listening.

Four cords are the whole interface: connect the call, listen in, write it in the night ledger, or be slow on purpose and let it ring out. Thirty-nine shifts, seven endings, and a town that makes up its mind one call at a time.
